Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
