FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a public practice inside the stadium earlier this month. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side in December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
